A.W. Tozer: On 'All We Really Need'

It's frightening to me just how easy it is to forget this...

"When religion has said its last word, there is little that we need other than God Himself.

"When the Lord divided Canaan among the tribes of Israel, Levi received no share of the land. God said to him simply, `I am thy part and thine inheritance,' and by those words made him richer than all his brethren, richer than all the kings and rajas who have ever lived in the world. And there is a spiritual principle here, a principle still valid for every priest of the Most High God.

"The man who has God for his treasure has all things in One. Many ordinary treasures may be denied him, or if he is allowed to have them, the enjoyment of them will be so tempered that they will never be necessary to his happiness. Or if he must see them go, one after one, he will scarcely feel a sense of loss, for having the Source of all things he has in One all satisfaction, all pleasure, all delight. Whatever he may lose he has actually lost nothing, for he now has it all in One, and he has it purely, legitimately and forever."

Thank you for this post. It is so true that all we really need is God.

Your post has struck a nerve this morning, and I am going to dwell on it some more. Thank you for being used by Him to reach others.

That is alot to think on, truly. I wish I was there, I confess, I am not. Lord help me, help me to truly know that you are all I need.
Thanks Greg, great thought probably for the entire week. Praying for Nicol and you and of course Summer too. I think it's probably time to share some of her funnies with us all, I know I could use it. In God's Love, sheila

Thank you for reminding me of this truth...especially in these trying economic times for me and so many others we need to hold fast to this truth. HE surely all we need! I appreciate and am uplifted by your posts and remember your family often in my prayers.

We are a nation of people who forget easily, because we are comfortable with material possessions and provisions, forgetting that we are here to worship God and not ourselves.
Remember, it has been only 8 years since 9/11/01, and how soon too many American people have forgotten what that was all about.
