Fun and Memories Compliments of Summer

I have been meaning to post some of Summer's funnier moments and memorable words for a while now... so here they are.

Bet you all didn't know that Barney has a last name, did you? Well, he does. Summer told Nicol the other day that his name is Barney Sponberg. (Great.)

[ Her first prayer is below... she does some variable of it most every night... usually hitting on every family member and her favorite friends and the basic food groups of candy and pizza and fry fries and Sprite ]
Thank you for daddy and mommy
And thank you for mommy and daddy
And thank you for Daddy and mommy
And thank you for Uncle Rob
Ant Shawn
And Chase and Jordyn and Jenna
And Uncle Todd and Ant Angie
And for all the cousins
For Kate and Ellie and Abby
Bubble gum and water
And toffee (coffee, that is... that one's for daddy!)
And goff (golf... diddo)
And Barney
And Grammy and Grampy
Aaaaaamen!!! (she's very assertive with her Amens, especially when blessing a meal, which usually goes something like "Thank you, Aaaaaamen! She wastes no time getting to the point... or the food.)
[ Here are some Bible verses she's been learning... ]
Beginning God made heaven earth (Genesis 1:1)
Be stroooooong and 'rageous (Joshua 1:9)
Grace and peace in abundance (2 Peter 1:2)
Give thanks to the Lord (1 Chronicles 16:8)
[ The other night, as we were walking into the house, the following conversation took place... ]
she said "be strong and courageous" and I said "do you know why you can be strong and courageous Summer?" and she said "nope" and I said "because God is with you wherever you go" and she said "Thanks!!!" (Hilarious...)
[ We hear these, oh, six or seven hundred times every day... seriously ]
Ha, ha, ha! I get silly. Come on and laugh with me. Wiggle, waggle, wiggle, waggle, ho, ho, ho. If you're feeling happy let it show! (from Barney)
One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, Jesus made a way to heaven, red and yellow, pink and blue, Jesus died for me and you. (from Miss Patty Cake)
[ the other night when we were putting her to bed, we could hear an ambulance driving nearby... she apparently remembered back to the night Luke died ]
Lukey go in the ambulance. (not in the funny category, but definitely memorable for us... and gut-wrenching)

The simplicity of life as a child is good medicine to the soul isn't it? Thx for sharing the cute stories. The siren story was a good reminder to pray for Summer too. Love in Christ..Mary

Summer sounds like a funny delightful little girl. How old is? I have a 3 yr boy, oh the things he says. It is strange how how memory bank works, the simple sound of an ambulance taking her back, oh Lord heal the memories. Take care and enjoy all. In God's love, sheila

These are just precious! That moment will probably stick with Summer for a very long time. Hopefully she can recall a lot of good memories of her brother too as time passes.

She is so funny! I love kids at this age. You have to pay attention but it is so worth it! All mine have left this stage. We have some funny moments though and it is worth all the rough events of parenting. I am so blessed to have God to guide me! Jennifer in NC

I love that she said Barney's last name is Sponberg! Made me laugh out loud! I have enjoyed your blog and I pray for you, Nicol, and Summer everyday though I'll never meet you. I found your blog randomly through Angie's blog and my heart goes out to all of you. I want the whole world to know of the life of Luke! I tagged you on my blog so those people who read it may someday learn of what an amazing guy Luke was. God Bless!

Hi Gregory,
I just wanted to send along to you my love. I am grateful for the fact that you are getting some breaks from this horrible grief and that you are still able to take in the beauty and wonder that is your little Summer. You and Nicole are in my thoughts and prayers continually, and I just wish so desperately that Lukey was still with us. I'm proud of you bud, your doing very well as you go on this journey. All my love Sheila Kaye :)

Congrats on the addition of Barney to your family.....I hope you like purple! I always wondered what his last name was.....I wonder no more! LOL!!! That is priceless! It's great that you are writing down these cute little sayings and memories. Time goes by so fast and it will be nice to look back on these times and have these memories recorded.

We will continue to pray that the Lord will bring the right family into your home and fall in love with it.

Take care! Keep up the wonderful writing. Love in Christ,

Thanks for sharing sweet. Congrats on being related to Barney! You must be thrilled. :-)

I found your blog via Angie's. I have listened to Selah's music for a number of years, and it has really ministered to me. Now through yours and Angie's blogs, it feels like you guys are all practically family. I pray for all of you often; especially on my (very long) commute to work. (I'm also a Moody grad, so you know...we stick together; God bless the school that DL Moody founded, right?) :-)
God bless you and your family, thanks for sharing about sweet little Summer! Alice

Your writing is so poignant. I enjoy each post. This one was so sweet! What a charming little girl! The last little phrase about the ambulance made me swallow hard. Tough stuff for all of us, but especially one so young.
You guys are doing a great job! God bless you as you continue on this journey.

I love your conversation "be strong and courageous."

I laughed all the way through and then when I got to the one about the sirens my heart broke once again for you guys.

Abba Father,
Right now I want to pray that You would guard Summer's little heart and mind. I ask that you would give Greg and Nicol the words to say when she has questions about Luke. You be their words!!!!
In Jesus Name - AMEN
