Brrrrr....

My cousin Andrea, who lives in my home town of Washburn, Maine, took these pics at 7:00am (EST) this morning at her house. Now that's cold!

Today, schools in Williamson County, Tennessee are closed because it's too cold! The temp? 7 degrees/-3 windchill as of 8:00am (CST).

By the way, schools in Washburn are open today! They're tough up there. When I was a kid we used to walk to school in those temps... up hill, both ways, in four feet of snow... and we loved it! ;-)

WHAT?! Un-be-lieve-a-ble. I can't believe that 1- it's that cold, and 2- that schools are open. Whoa.

Yes it is so cold here that someone threw water into the air and it froze!! Or so the story goes!!! We are tough here, but this is a little bit ridiculous!! Hope Tennessee is enjoying the mild weather! :-)

Brrrrr is right! It wasn't that cold here but pretty close. But it did get up to 17 below yesterday and that didn't included the wind chill. I love living in the Midwest, NOT!! If they closed the schools here when it got to 7 degrees the kids would have the entire winter off! :)

I love you blog, I've been reading since the beginning. Thanks for sharing your beautiful family with us. God bless.

hahaha, that really is funny. My daughters heard a theory: Wear your pj's to bed backward, put a spoon under your pillow and your slippers under your bed: This is some way will cause a 'Snow Day'. Well, the spoon got forgotten about and the pjs were on right, to their credit their slippers were under the bed (wayyy under their bed where they have been since Christmas) and off they went to school, temp 6 degrees WC -13 WNY. They are soft though, they ride the bus. Take care and have a great weekend. In God's Love, sheila
PS: Can your cousin throw warm water in the air and will it turn to ice before it hits the ground; the kids are dying to try this, lol.

LOL! I too walked to school up hill both ways. However, it was in hot weather...lived in Hawaii.

I hear you guys out there saying "wow, Hawaii...must be rough!"

It really was ;o)

Greg, have you heard the joke that "it's so cold that the Maine Legislature has its hands in its own pockets?" :)

The day I chose to venture to Caribou (my maiden voyage to there, since Portland is my commercial base) it was -45 in the sun on Main Street with a stiff 30 mph wind - in 2004. I imagine it feels about the same there now!

We must be wimpy here in Chicago, too, because I remember talking to Shawn that day. By the time we spoke, TN temps had risen to 14degrees. I thought we had the same here, until I realized that no, our temps are negative 14 degrees. But our schools were closed, too.

(Maine makes some sturdy folk!)
